How to wait
I'm generally a lousy waiter (not the restaurant
kind). I mean I hate waiting on lines or for
anything I've ordered to arrive or for friends at
the airport. When it comes to waiting for insight or
enlightenment or a change of mood, I can be
particularly edgy. Something someone once told me
helped, though. I use it all the time. She said,
"Imagine a small child at the grocery store,
screaming and crying for his mommy. To him, she's a
million miles away and will never come back. But the
truth is she's in the next aisle, and all he has to
do is round the bend and all his pain will end
instantly." That's like us. We fret about what we
have yet to achieve, as if it's miles away. But, for
all we know it's right around the corner, and in a
split second, our waiting will end in joyful
satisfaction. The next time you're in a state of
agitation, imagine that what you seek is literally
right around the corner...and relax!
"One moment of patience may ward off great disaster.
One moment of impatience may ruin a whole life."
