Under the Weather

We often use the expression "under the weather" when we're describing a feeling of malaise, illness, or depression. On cloudy, depressing days it's easy to feel "under the weather" stuck in a sense that the whole world is blanketed in darkness...but it's not. As a pilot, I've had the experience of climbing up out of the cloud cover to find a beautiful, bright blue sky above. Similarly, it's helpful to realize that when our
souls are blanketed by the clouds of depression, there is a brighter perspective beyond those clouds. Whenever you're under the weather, try imagining yourself climbing up out of a layer of clouds and finding warmth and happiness above. This simple visualization will help you realize that what appears to be a
permanent state of darkness is just a temporary lack of perspective. Even when it doesn't produce an instant elevation of your mood, you'll feel more acceptance when you touch the awareness of a higher state "beyond the clouds."
