Issue #33

Operating Instructions for Your Brain

Having balanced your body chemistry and found some peaceful experiences from things like meditating or walking in nature, ou'll find that it's easier to control your thoughts and more importantly their effect on your emotions. Now when they arise you can tell yourself that negative thoughts are not permitted.
Remember that "I can't believe I'm having another negative thought" is a negative thought. Simply acknowledge your discomfort any time you feel it, tell yourself it's the result of negative thought (whether or not you know which one) and most importantly remind yourself that the discomfort will pass. Then,
reach into your memory bag and pull out a vivid image that makes you feel loved, peaceful, amused, or any other positive emotion, and revel in it until there's a shift. Start right now gathering those images to draw on when you need them. For me, picturing myself on my deck overlooking the lake with a few puppies licking my face does the trick. What does it for you?

"The richness I achieve comes from Nature, the source of my inspiration." -Claude Monet
