Reach out and touch someone

I don't remember which company had that as there logo; maybe ATandT, but I was reminded of it today. In some ways, I'm a very social person, but I can be a bit of a loner. When I'm isolating myself, I sometimes forget a couple key points. One, it's I who's choosing to be alone and two, there are people I could call who'd be glad to connect with me. When I forget those points, I tend to feel lonely and unloved. When I remember them, I am peaceful, awakened to my options. A simple phone call and I'd be connecting with another human being. So, today, I called an old friend and made plans to get together. My loneliness vanished, along with my feelings of inadequacy.

If you're feeling alone and unloved, remind yourself that you're there out of choice, and can rechoose if you'd like. Reach out and touch someone. Call a friend. You'll both be glad you did.

"It's the friends you can call up at 4 a.m. that matter." -Marlene Dietrich:
